UNAA Global Citizenship Schools Program
When and where is the Student Council Leadership Day held?
The Student Council Leadership Day will be held at Queensland Parliament House on Thursday 20th February 2020.
What is involved?
The UNAA Global Citizenship Schools Program provides young people with the necessary values and skills for leading community campaigns to promote peace, justice and environmental sustainability.
In the first stage of the program, students attend a Leadership Day and have the opportunity to interact with their member of parliament. During this day, they explore concepts of leadership, the UN Sustainable Development Goals and are guided in the planning of school-based community events and campaigns.
Schools are given access to online resources to support the implementation of their planned activities throughout the year.
Representatives from UNAA Queensland will maintain contact throughout the year to support schools and to liaise between schools and Local Members of Parliament.
Towards the end of the year, there will be an opportunity for participating schools to share their projects with the UNAA Queensland Global Citizenship Schools Network.

Who is the program for?
The program is designed for student leaders from both primary and secondary schools. Generally, a school nominates a small group of students to participate in the program. These students will share the skills and ideas they learn through the participating in the Leadership Day with other student leaders at their school. Students should be accompanied by a member of the school leadership team or a member of staff who will be directly supporting the students with their campaign initiative.
